A better system

We could spend years tweaking the knobs of the current system and we would never make it perfect.  That is because the foundation of the system is flawed; that it is based on a coercive monopoly.

A coercive monopoly can never achieve the best performance, the lowest cost or true accountability because they do not have to compete for your business.  It's not as if you can choose to hire another security force for your protection and opt out of their system.  A private company with competition has to give you better performance, a lower cost and greater accountability than his competitors or else you will not give them your dollars.

They will never be fully accountable for their actions because they are part of the same system that is in charge of prosecuting crimes.  The police, the courts and the political establishment are all part of the same system.

Another reason that a coercive monopoly is doomed to fail is because it is predicated on an immoral principle: stealing.  Under the threat of violence we are forced to allow them to steal our money to pay for their coercive monopoly.  Taking the property of another individual is never okay, no matter who does it, for what reason or what name they give it.

The solution is to throw off this government’s long train of abuses, as called for in the Declaration Of Independence, and form a voluntary based society.

The current government inflicts far more harm on our individual freedom and prosperity than it protects them.  We would be far more free and prosperous if were allowed to own ourselves and make our own decisions.  A free market could do the functions that are currently done by government far better.

A legal system based on the foundation that "no individual has the right to initiate force, or a substitute for force, against any other individual" should encompass all crimes.  If there is no victim, then there is no crime.  Vices such as gambling, prostitution or drug use are not crimes.

You should own yourself.  But you never will as long as there is a government with a coercive monopoly controlling your life.
